The Grand Canyon University Outdoor Recreation program exists to serve the students of GCU by providing a gateway into outdoor recreation that engages both individuals and groups in adventure, fellowship, environmental stewardship, leadership development and outdoor education. We will advance relationships through these outlets and strive to provide a positive experience for the students while fueling off the endless adventures that occur in God’s creation that help challenge students physically, spiritually, and mentally.

Our program is complied of four unique areas, Adventure Programs, Base Camp Rentals and Resource Center, Climbing Programs, and a Campus Garden. Each area is unique but all has the same mission and focus and that is to challenge students physically, spiritually, and mentally.

Your donation would help support expanding our areas and our scope of reach by helping us purchase a solar generator for our campus garden to provide power for events and tools, gear for our programming to help us expand the type of programming we do and ensure all our students can use the best gear in the industry for an amazing experience and potentially a gear trailer for adventure programs to increase space in the vehicles so we can accommodate more individuals.

Additionally we now do an annual mission trip to our Costa Rica in which we a hike to a remote part of the country and serve the Cabecar people, providing programming, house visits, and support for the local schools/church. Costs for this trip range from $1500-$2200 depending on cost of flights. We are hoping to have a “scholarship” fund in which we can assist with individuals who are not able to raise support for this trip, but have the heart and desire to serve this population.

If you are wanting to support larger dreams of ours they include an indoor bouldering area (Estimated cost: 100-130k) and 12 Passenger Vans (Cost Range based on vans). Our hope is to expand our climbing programs and add bouldering inside the Canyon Activity Center as well as secure our own transportation so we can reduce potential costs of having to rent out vans for trips.

We thank you for your support, generosity, and prayer for our leadership team through these programs!
